• Lipitor is an HMG CoA reductase inhibitor. Lipitor blocks the production
of cholesterol (a type of fat) in the body.
• Lipitor is used to reduce the amounts of LDL (bad) cholesterol, total
cholesterol, triglycerides (another type of fat), and apolipoprotein B (a
protein needed to make cholesterol) in your blood. Lipitor is also used to
increase the level of HDL (good) cholesterol in your blood. These actions
are important in reducing the risk of hardening of the arteries, which can
lead to heart attacks, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease.
• Lipitor may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this
medication guide. Atorvastatin is a prescription drug in one of the newest
classes of cholesterol-lowering medications, called statins. These drugs
have been used widely for the last five years. For people with high
cholesterol, Atorvastatin, in combination with a low-fat diet, can reduce
your LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
How does Atorvastatin improve the different types of cholesterol?
In medical studies of people with high cholesterol, Atorvastatin, taken
once a day, had the following effects at doses of 10 to 80 mg: Lowered
total cholesterol by 29-45%. Lowered LDL cholesterol, the "bad"
cholesterol, by 39-60%. Increased HDL cholesterol, the "good" cholesterol,
by 5-9%. Lowered triglyceride levels by 19-37%.
What happens if I miss a dose of Lipitor?
• Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost
time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take only the next
regularly scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose of this medication.
Where can i get Lipitor ?
We only recommend on the most reliable, International ( ship to worldwide
) pharmacies (without prescription) that got great feedback from our
readers :
Without statins my TC is around 300, with 80 mgm lipitor it is a
consistent 140. Nothing else worked to bring it down and I nearly died
with 99% blockage of the LAD before an angioplasty and going on statins.
Both my grandfather and father dropped dead in their early sixties. For
me, this is a wonder drug. Melvin.
Used other cholesterol medication and lifestyle changes, but cholesterol
did not reach normal levels until I was put on Lipitor. Tamara.
Lipitor dropped my cholesterol from the 260-280 range to the 160-180
range. Scott.
It significantly lowered my cholesterol within 3 months, which shocked me.
To be fair, I am on 3 other medications, so if I was to have any side
effects I wouldn't know what to attribute it to anyway. But so far so
excellent. Dean.
Cholesterol way down. No problems that I can associate with the drug. Tula.
I believe the discomforts are side effects, but my doc says lipitor only
causes muscle pain over the entire body, not just areas. Had no pains
until 4+ years on lipitor. But - cholesterol went from 258 to 160. Ray.
After only 2 weeks on Lipitor, my total cholesterol fell from 306 to 178;
LDL fell from 178 to 70; and, my HDL went from 116 to 89 (didn't like this
result, but did like the change in the LDL). Overall the results were
significant. I will start taking it again as my cardiologist has
encouraged me to stay on the medication. David.
